A dedicated facility for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery that is among the most advanced of its kind in the country, the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Cardiac Sciences at Aster Medcity offers comprehensive cardiac care for the management
of heart ailments in both adults and children, with a preventive approach. State-of-the-art in terms of clinical support and facilities offered, the CoE has an Outpatient division, an Inpatient division, a fully equipped 24-bed Cardiac ICU to handle all cardiac emergencies, an advanced cardiac imaging section, cardiac surgical suites and an Invasive Diagnostic and Interventional division – for both adult and paediatric. It is also the first cardiac care centre in Kerala to offer Hybrid Cath Lab facility and Robotic Cardiac Surgery.The CoE has an exceptional team of Doctors who are experts in their field of specialisation, with several years of experience and international training. In line with its commitment to provide quality cardiac care, all the Doctors and Nurses in the ICUs are ACLS certified and Paramedics – BLS certified. Besides, the CoE adheres to strict protocols to ensure optimal, evidence-based management of all cardiac conditions.
The CoE also has a 24 hour Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic in the Emergency department to provide immediate medical care to patients who are brought in with pain or discomfort in the chest.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common congenital disorder in newborns. There are no published data on the occurrence of congenital heart disease in Kerala. However there is general agreement among health workers that it follows a similar pattern all over the world in different geographies. Dr Sajan Koshy MS MCh is currently heading the unit of Paediatric & Congenital heart surgery at Aster Medicity. Prior to joining Aster, he was working as senior consultant and head of the department of paediatric cardiac surgery at MIMS Calicut. He started his professional career from alleppey medical college in 1988. He also functioned as a co- convener in first and second symposia on perioperative care of congenital heart disease held in Kochi in the year 2002 and 2004 respectively & as the scientific committee chairman for the national CME of cardio thoracic surgery held at Calicut in September 2007. He has Conducted many lectures in all the districts of North Kerala for the benefit of medical professional bodies to create awareness about congenital heart disease.
